ABOUT IIPELP

The International Institute for Petroleum, Energy Law and Policy (IIPELP), was originally registered and known as Institute for Oil and Gas Law, (IOGL). IOGL with RC No. 708917 was established in 2007 to proffer solutions to the current gaps that exist in institutional development, governance structure, legal and regulatory framework for the Energy industry in Nigeria in particular and African in general.

By a special resolution of the Board of Institute for Oil and Gas Law and with the authority of the Registrar General of the Corporate Affairs Commission of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the previous name "Institute for Oil and Gas Law" (IOGL) was changed to the International Institute for Petroleum, Energy Law and Policy, (IIPELP) in March 2012.

At IIPELP, we are at the forefront of the incubation of ideas and the application of same to the systematic resolution of energy related problems. We believe that the multidisciplinary approach to strategic thinking in energy law, energy economics and public policy is required. Essential also, is rigorous data analysis in the development of energy policy options.

Law and economics are fundamental to sustainability of human development through the creation of institutional frameworks and organizational strengthening as well as the enabling of economic choices and opportunities. Energy drives economic growth and is directly linked to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). IIPELP’s role is to improve the quality of the GDP through enlightened public policy options on energy.

Research at IIPELP focuses on areas such as; Petroleum Economics and strategy. We undertake economic evaluation of petroleum related projects incorporating evaluation of risks and appropriate strategies for value creation. Our nuanced analysis enables investors and their financiers assess the value of petroleum assets for purposes of acquisition and or disposal. The analysis will cover the entire energy value chain.
In the area of consulting, we specifically handle the following:

  • Commercial negotiations of gas purchasing and supplier agreements
